With the rising price of gas, and being a bit physically hobbled lately, I have not been able to get out and about. Those factors coupled with my own, self-imposed goal of having a video with each post have lead to a dearth of posting on this site. I do have a couple videos in the making and will get back as well.
I will also try to pass along other Lost Towns of the Pine Barrens information I gather even if there is no video to complement it.
I have heard that restoration work on the mansions at both Atsion and Batsto are moving forward. I hope to get to both soon and update.
I have also heard some disturbing news about more people stealing block from the ruins at Hampton Furnace. I reiterate, if you go and visit any of these historic sites, the only things you should take away are memories and pictures.
More soon, I promise!

my sons and i went up to atsion about a week and a half before the big fire. we asked at the ranger station about when the mansion would be open for tours and were told they were having manpower shortages and would probably be open for thanksgiving and christmas. we then went hiking in the woods behind the church, up and down the railroad tracks. the weather was beautiful and we got lots of great pictures. i haven’t been up since the fire, but i hope it wasn’t too bad.

Kim, with the state budget situation I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s even longer before there are any tours. I hope to get down that way myself in the next two weeks. I hope to get some new video from there too, if the weather cooperates.
